Okay to Say “No”

We planted this tree last year and it only had about five blooms. This year the blooms have taken over and they are beautiful! But if you look closely, you’ll also see it’s starting to lean a bit to the right. Under the weight of all those beautiful blooms, this tree is beginning to struggle. Today I’ll cut off some of the excess blooms, then go and grab some twine and extra support so it doesn’t have to bear the weight alone as it grows. And, as God typically does, he used this as a reminder to me, and I wanted to share…

Friends, we can have some pretty amazing opportunities in front of us. Those things can even be really good things. But if we say yes to them all, they can begin to tax us, especially if we are trying to do them on our own strength. Don’t be afraid to say “no” to the things God hasn’t called you to do—even if they are really good things. And make sure you are tied to him as your extra strength and support.
